So I “just happened” to read the passage you quoted (Genesis 31-32) this morning. Also have been in a season of pacing and praying when home alone about, among other things, the idols I see in my life and my children’s lives. Did that this morning. So thank you Josh for following the Holy Spirit in writing these words. An affirmation that when I said, “I’m overwhelmed, only You can deliver my children from the system of lies that’s attached to them,” this cry of dependence was exactly where I needed to be. Only God can crush these idols.
Somedays they are delights, somedays they are disciplines, and somedays they are somewhere in between.
Amen! Amen! And amen!
